All-season blanket: Who it’s suitable for and how warm it is
Is an all-season duvet sufficient in winter, but too warm in summer? Who the duvet is suitable for at 18–22 °C – with all five Traumwelt all-season duvets, fill amounts and prices compared.
Inhalt
In short: An all-season duvet is the medium warmth class between a summer and winter duvet. It is suitable for bedrooms at around 18–22 °C and for people with a normal sense of warmth. In a normally heated bedroom, it is also sufficient in winter. If you get cold quickly or sleep in a room below 18 °C, a winter duvet is a better choice. At Traumwelt, an all-season duvet in 135 × 200 cm weighs 560 to 625 g, depending on the filling.
A duvet for all twelve months – that is the idea behind the all-season duvet. For many, this works well, for some, it does not. This guide is solely about the all-season duvet: who it is sufficient for, how warm it really is, what happens in midsummer and winter, and how Traumwelt's five all-season duvets differ. You can find an overview of all three warmth classes in the guide Warmth Classes and Fill Amounts.
Who is an all-season duvet sufficient for?
An all-season duvet is right for you if most of the following points apply:
- Your bedroom is usually between about 18 and 22 °C at night.
- You do not get cold quickly at night and do not sweat quickly either.
- You do not want to change the duvet twice a year and do not want to store a second duvet.
- Your bedroom is heated in winter or does not get permanently cold even without heating.
It is probably not right for you if you get cold quickly, sleep in an unheated room below 18 °C, or your bedroom is permanently above 22 °C in summer, such as in an attic. In that case, two duvets – summer and winter – are more comfortable to alternate.
How warm is an all-season duvet?
The warmth of a duvet can be determined by the fill amount in grams – for the same size and, in the case of down, the same fill power. A Traumwelt all-season duvet with 90% down has 624 g of filling in 135 × 200 cm. For comparison: the summer duvet of the same type has 250 g, the winter duvet 900 g. The all-season duvet is therefore roughly in the middle, slightly closer to the winter duvet.
Important when comparing with other providers: "All-season duvet" is not a standardized designation. Every manufacturer decides for themselves how much filling they use for it. Therefore, always compare the gram amount for the same size. More about this in the guide Fill Power (Cuin) and Fill Amount.
Is an all-season duvet sufficient in winter?
Yes, in a normally heated bedroom. If the room temperature is 18 °C or slightly above even in winter, an all-season duvet provides sufficient warmth. Sleep experts recommend around 16 to 19 °C for the bedroom – at the lower end of this range, it can be too cool for people who get cold easily under an all-season duvet.
This is how you will notice that it is not sufficient in winter:
- You wake up at night because you are cold, or you pull the duvet up over your shoulders.
- You regularly need an additional duvet or hot water bottle.
- Your bedroom is not heated in winter and is significantly below 18 °C at night.
Then a winter duvet is the better solution for the cold months. However, also check the size, drafts, and the condition of the filling beforehand – all causes are explained in the guide Feeling Cold at Night Despite a Duvet.
Is an all-season duvet too warm in summer?
That depends on the bedroom. If the room remains below about 22 °C even in summer, you will usually get by well with the all-season duvet. On individual hot nights, it helps to fold the duvet in half or stick your feet out. If the bedroom is above 22 °C for weeks, a summer duvet is significantly more comfortable.
If you generally get warm quickly under an all-season duvet, even if the room temperature is right, it is worth taking a look at the all-season climate duvet further down. More about the causes in the guide Why Do I Sweat at Night?

Fill amounts and prices according to the current product descriptions, as of November 2026. All five duvets are available in 135 × 200, 155 × 220, 200 × 200, and 240 × 220 cm, all are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, the down duvets additionally NOMITE and DOWNPASS. You can find all models in the collection All-Season Duvets.
Why do the 100% and goose down duvets have fewer grams?
Because feathers are heavier and enclose less air than down. Without a feather component, the 100% down duvet achieves the same warmth class with less filling and is therefore lighter. According to the product description, goose down usually requires slightly less fill weight for the same warmth because it is on average larger than duck down. More about this in the guide 90% or 100% Down?
All-Season Climate Duvet: when heat builds up
The all-season climate duvet has the same filling as the classic all-season down duvet with 90% down. Instead of cassettes, however, it has continuous channels separated by breathable climate bands. Excess heat can escape more easily through these bands. It is the right all-season duvet if the room temperature is right, but you still get warm quickly under a normal duvet. The difference is explained in the guide Climate Duvet or Cassette Duvet? According to the product description, it is shipped directly by the manufacturing partner, and the delivery time is around 4 business days.
All-Season Primaloft Organic Duvet: the vegan option
The Primaloft Organic duvet is completely animal-free, washable at 60 °C, and dries faster than down. For dust mite allergy sufferers and everyone who reacts to down, it is the obvious choice. If allergic symptoms persist, please have the cause checked by a doctor. You can find the comparison with down under Down Duvet or Primaloft Organic?

One all-season duvet or two duvets?
| One all-season duvet | Summer and winter duvet | |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep climate | good compromise for 18–22 °C | each duvet precisely tailored to its season |
| Effort | no changing, nothing to store | change twice a year, store one duvet |
| Cost | one duvet | two duvets |
| Suitable if | the bedroom is similarly tempered throughout the year | it is very warm in summer and cool in winter |
If you decide on two duvets, you can find tips on storage in the guide Storing a Duvet Properly. Not sure? The purchase guide asks for the room temperature and sleep type and suggests a duvet for you.
Which size?
You choose the all-season duvet like any other duvet according to body size and bed: 135 × 200 cm up to about 1.85 m body height, above that 155 × 220 cm. For couples under a shared duvet, there are 200 × 200 and 240 × 220 cm – more about this in the guide Duvet 200 × 200. Since the fill amount increases with the size, every size is equally warm.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which room temperature is suitable for the all-season duvet?
Around 18–22 °C. Below that, a winter duvet is more comfortable, above that, a summer duvet.
Is an all-season duvet the same as a 4-season duvet?
No. A 4-season duvet consists of two duvets that you use separately or buttoned together. An all-season duvet is a single duvet with medium filling. Traumwelt does not offer 4-season duvets.
Which all-season duvet is the warmest?
At Traumwelt, all five all-season duvets are tailored to the same warmth class. Differences exist in weight, feel, and construction, not in the intended room temperature.
Can I put a wool blanket over it in winter?
Yes, for individual cold nights, that is an easy solution. If you need it regularly, a winter duvet is the better choice.
Can I wash an all-season duvet?
Yes. According to the product description, the All-Season Down Duvet 90%, the Goose Down Duvet, the All-Season Climate Duvet, and the Primaloft Organic Duvet are washable up to 60 °C, the 100% down duvet you wash according to the care label. Pay attention to the care label for every duvet and use a machine with a large drum for large duvets. More in the guide Washing a Duvet.
