In short: Our down is DOWNPASS-certified – no live-plucking or force-feeding, fully traceable. If you want to completely avoid animal materials, you can sleep under vegan Primaloft Bio. This is complemented by OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, production in Germany and long-lasting quality.
For Traumwelt, sustainability means concrete, verifiable properties: Our down is DOWNPASS-certified and does not come from live-plucking. Primaloft Bio consists of recycled polyester – according to PrimaLoft, 100% recycled, including from PET bottles. Down, feathers and cotton are natural materials that biodegrade under natural conditions. All materials are tested for harmful substances according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. With proper care, a down duvet often lasts 10 years or more and is made in Germany – with shorter transport routes than goods from Asia.
How does DOWNPASS ensure ethical down sourcing?
DOWNPASS is an international certificate for ethically sourced down and feathers. It confirms the full traceability of the down from the animal to the finished product – seamless and transparent.
What DOWNPASS checks
- No live-plucking – down is only obtained after slaughter
- No force-feeding – the animals are not kept for liver production
- Animal-friendly conditions – the housing conditions meet established animal welfare standards
- Full traceability – from the farm through processing to the finished product
- Regular independent inspections – all production steps are checked
All our down and feather products carry the DOWNPASS certificate. This gives you peace of mind that the materials in your Traumwelt duvet or pillow were obtained according to DOWNPASS standards.
Is there a vegan alternative?
Yes: If you want to completely avoid animal materials, our Primaloft Bio range is right for you. Primaloft Bio is a vegan high-tech fiber with the following properties:
- 100% vegan – no animal materials
- Made from recycled materials – according to PrimaLoft, 100% recycled polyester, including from PET bottles
- Biodegradable – according to PrimaLoft laboratory tests, 93.8% degraded in 646 days under accelerated landfill conditions and 76.6% in 973 days under accelerated marine conditions
- Recycled raw material – existing polyester is reused to make the fiber instead of producing new polyester from crude oil
